ABOUT LOFRIX

The Lofrix® product range was created through a long period of development specifically to tackle the cost to industry of the effects of friction. It is estimated that friction consumes between 30% and 50% of all energy used in the movement event.

According to Lars Pleth Nielsen, Manager of the Tribology Center at the Danish Technological Institute and President of ENIWEP (the European Network for Industrial Wear Prevention), estimates show that between 2 and 4 percent of an industrialized country’s annual gross domestic product (GDP) is lost through friction and to mechanical parts wearing out. This represents an approximate cost of between:

  • $57billion and £114billion p.a. when these figures are applied to the UK economy
  • $429billion and $858billion p.a. for the US economy; and
  • €$366billion and $732billon p.a. across the EU economies

Since its development, Lofrix® has been successfully trialled and tested by many reputable global companies who are all now valued customers. Further proof of the friction reducing properties of Lofrix® has been obtained through well-documented independent tests undertaken by academic institutions, including Huddersfield University.

When added to oils and blended into greases, Lofrix® significantly reduces friction between metal surfaces. Lofrix®, as a friction reduction technology, is mixed with existing oils. This applies to Lofrix® mixed with lubrication oils e.g. for gearboxes. It is also the same dilution factor for hydraulic systems. For greases, Lofrix® is added at manufacture as a blend and the complete greases provided.

The result of 20 years of research and development in the combined fields of tribology and metallurgy, the Lofrix® range consists of:

  • Lofrix® Original – for use with lubricants
  • Lofrix® Windpower – for use in the wind sector
  • Lofrix® Hydraulic – for use in hydraulic fluids
  • Lofrix® Greases

The award-winning Lofrix® product range has been used for in excess of 20,000,000 operational hours by many clients in a range of industrial sectors including:

  • Automotive
  • Aerospace
  • Power stations
  • Renewable energy
  • Paper and board
  • Brick, cement and aggregates
  • Manufacturing
  • Textiles
  • Printing

"Following an extensive period of testing and evaluation of Lofrix, I am completely satisfied that the installation of the product in our operational assets will dramatically reduce equipment failure, increase reliability, help maintain the quality of the lubricating oil and thus extending the life of the turbine gearboxes. A rapid pay-back of investment is also anticipated, as preventing just one catastrophic gearbox failure will offset the cost of installation of the product."
